‘When The Shed Light Is On’ Film
On Friday 19 March, Peter O’Toole of the Hothouse Flowers joined Frank for a chat about his new film on the men’s sheds of Tipperary and surviving lockdown: ‘When The Shed Light Is On’.
Peter has been a fan of the Men’s Sheds movement for many years and this new project is an online celebration of the men, of the sheds and of the bond keeping everybody connected during lockdown. The hour-long film features performances and messages for Shedders from musical luminaries such as Mary Coughlan, Joe Chester, Mundy, John Spillane, Greenshine, Gerry O Connor, Ken Whelan, Grainne Hune, Maitiu O Casaide and Cormac Begley.
The film also highlights the men of the sheds as Peter went on a journey around each shed in Tipperary to meet members. From gardening in Tipperary town to singing in Cahir, Peter did it all! He filmed in Clonmel, Mullinahone, Carrick-On-Suir, Silvermines and more to find a true sense of the value of the sheds and the positive impact that they have on the local community.
