    • Flogas Announces Exclusive Competition for Shedders

    Flogas, the Irish Men’s Sheds Association’s energy partner, has invited entries for an exciting competition open to all Men’s Sheds members and/or their Sheds. This is an opportunity to win a €2,500 voucher (or sterling equivalent) for your shed from a hardware store of your choice.

    The competition is called ‘Reimagine Drogheda’ and is inspired by Knockbrack House, once the home of famous racehorse Drogheda, and now accommodating Flogas Head Office.

    Drogheda’s story is an inspiring one, detailing how the underdog can sometimes come out on top.

    In March 1898, at the age of six years old, Drogheda was due to race in the Grand National race at Liverpool. The odds weren’t good: the starting price was 25 to 1 and all the racing scribes of the day declared that he had no chance and might as well be kept in his stable for he could not stay the distance.

    The truth, of course, was that ‘Drogheda’ could stay for six miles if necessary and he won the race, despite a blinding snowstorm. His last mile was faster than the first and John Gourley, his jockey, broke records, finishing the race in nine minutes and 42 seconds.

    To honour this special horse, Flogas has invited the Irish Men’s Sheds to ‘Reimagine Drogheda’ in a piece of work that symbolizes ‘Drogheda’ the horse. The work can be a painting, an art installation, a garden, recycled material, woodwork, collage, sculpture or whatever your imagination suggests.

    Prize: €2,500 voucher for your shed from a hardware store of your choice (or sterling equivalent).

    Runner up Prizes: Leopardstown: A table for 4 in Hospitality at the 2022 Dublin Racing Festival – Sunday 6 February. A €200 Gift House Gift Card to spend across hundreds of businesses.

    Closing date: Closing date for entries is Friday, December 10th 2021. A competition panel will choose the top ten entries which will then be put to the public vote.

    Individuals or group entries are welcome and the prize will be awarded to your shed.

    To enter your shed you must contact your dedicated Men’s Sheds Flogas Partners Adam or Craig, via email or on the phone and provide them with your Shed Name and contact details along with your sheds or your home energy details.
