Build Your Own Propagator Class with Tanguy de Toulgoët
We’re delighted to announced that Tanguy de Toulgoët of Dunmore Country School will host a class on building your own propagator on Wednesday 3 February at 2.30pm.
It is very important to be able to sow and start your crops whatever the weather conditions. The growing time frame is quite short in Ireland and one has to strictly follow a sowing calendar to achieve success. A propagator will allow you to start your crops in optimum time.
An effective propagator is well worth investing in and you will reap the rewards tenfold. By being able to sow your own seeds, you will have access to a huge range of varieties which is the key to successful gardening.
Tanguy runs Dunmore Country School in Durrow, County Laois, and has a strong profile as an environmentalist, educator and gardener. He is a tireless campaigner and advocate of sustainable gardening and has given lectures and talks all over Ireland.
Dunmore Country School has been featured in most of the Irish newspapers (Irish Times, Irish Independent, The Business Post, Sunday Times, Irish Farmers Journal) and internationally in publications such as the Washington Post. It has appeared in TV programmes such as The Secret Garden, Nationwide (RTE), Queerbet (Germany), Chouette prod (France TV) and in books such as From The Ground Up by Fionnuala Fallon, Irish Gardens by Jane Powers.
The school’s kitchen garden is on a one acre plot with a polytunnel and is based on the traditional French “potager”, or country garden. The school produces and preserves almost all of the vegetables and herbs that it needs for the year and uses flowers as part of its rotation system which is both beautiful and practical.
Register here for the class.
