About Shed
Since our formation in 2019, Knocklyon Men’s Shed has become a haven of activity, enjoyment, and recreation for all our members. We are extremely thankful to Knocklyon United Football Club for allowing us the use of their clubhouse and compound as our home, almost from the very beginning. We are also grateful to South Dublin County Council for their help in the initial setting up of our Shed, and their ongoing support ever since.
As the Covid-19 lockdowns eased, we decided to build a Boules (Petanque) court within the compound. This proved so popular that we were forced to build a second court, and both are now fully utilised every week. We also have a 40ft steel container which we converted into a woodworking workshop, and is used by our members all the time. We have active Hillwalking, Pitch & Putt, cycling, music and Art groups. Day trips have been taken to places like Titanic Centre Belfast, the National Museum of Ireland, Patrick Pearse Museum, and Dail Eireann etc, with many more planned for the future.
We consider ourselves a very friendly and welcoming group and would be delighted to receive new members from the Knocklyon and surrounding areas all the time. We would especially welcome men who are living alone and who would benefit from the social and sporting activities of our Shed.
