What is the SOS campaign?
Our Save Our Sheds (SOS) Fund is a fundraising campaign aimed at helping the sheds affected by Covid-19. Currently, sheds are temporarily closed meaning that they cannot fundraise as they usually do.
This means that the average shed has lost over €1,280 in fundraising income, or €590,000 combined for all sheds in Ireland.
Why is the campaign needed?
Men’s sheds have been a vital part of communities across Ireland, they’ve been there when we needed them, they fixed your gate, made buddy benches for the local school, and even tidied your garden. Now, the men’s sheds need you.
Sheds are unable to fundraise as many members are at significant risk of being seriously affected by Covid-19, meaning they are unable to raise vital funds, placing many sheds in jeopardy of closing.
Why doesn't the Association give the sheds money?
All sheds are independent and autonomous, the Association exists to provide support and guidance to shedders. However, we have always advocated on behalf of the sheds for funding opportunities and work advance to the mission of the sheds.
As a representative body of the sheds, we have taken the steps to help provide additional supports to the sheds during this time.
Will my donation go to the Association or the sheds?
100% of donations received will go to the men’s sheds, not the Association. The fund will be evenly divided amongst all sheds in Ireland.
How are the men's sheds funded?
Individual sheds receive funding from a range of sources, from membership subs, lottery draws, grants and donations.
