Shed Support Volunteers Training Day
February 6th and 7th saw over twenty IMSA Shed Support Volunteers gather at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Athlone for two days of training. Under the guidance of National Volunteer Coordinator Eva Beirne, a positive atmosphere pervaded the training event, with everyone contributing fully and enthusiastically.
Eva kicked things off by congratulating all our volunteers on their work to date, which has made sheds more around Ireland more interconnected than ever before and given every member in Ireland a voice at national level. She then gave everyone a refresher on the nature of the role, and the opportunities it can create for sheds island-wide.
In the course of a fun, upbeat and informative two days, Volunteers also received an update on the various programmes of the Sheds for Life initiative, via Health & Wellbeing Manager Edel Byrne. Edel’s module also included contributions from the Disability Federation of Ireland and Sheds for Life partners Get Ireland Walking and Parkrun.
A module on shed governance and conflict resolution and an address from IMSA CEO Barry Sheridan rounded out proceedings. Many thanks to all those who came, both volunteers and speakers. To find your local Shed Support Volunteer, visit http://www.menssheds.ie/shed-support-volunteers/
