Position: Full-time.
Contract: Permanent.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer.
Salary: €35,844.
Hours: Mon – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00.
Location: National Office, Tullamore, Co Offaly.
Pension: 5% Company Contribution.
Health Care: HSF Health Plan.
Annual Leave: 25 days.
ABOUT THE IRISH MEN’S SHEDS ASSOCIATION
The men’s shed movement originally started in Australia which inspired their Irish counterparts to begin their own movement. Following the formation of the first shed in Ireland in 2009 the shed movement began to grow rapidly, with there now being over 450 sheds registered with the Irish Men’s Sheds Association and at about 9,000 men visiting a shed every week.
Men’s Sheds are community spaces which allow men to build a social network engage in their communities and share skills. The Men’s Sheds are inherently health promoting due the sense of meaning, camaraderie and social support offered within them.
The Irish Men’s Sheds Association was established in 2011, we aim to make it as easy as possible for any like-minded group of men in Ireland to set up, run and maintain a men’s shed. To this end, we provide information, resources, and support to sheds throughout Ireland; listening and responding to our members’ concerns is a cornerstone of our ethos.
Our Mission “To support , advocate and promote Men’s Sheds across the Island of Ireland, enhancing well-being and building stronger and more sustainable communities”.
We aim to use Men’s Sheds as a means of creating more stable, connected, and cohesive communities. We also seek to improve the general health & wellbeing of Irish men to the greatest extent possible.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Information Officer for Irish Men’s Sheds Association will be responsible for providing information, supports and direction to Communities, individuals and existing member Sheds on the full range of issues associated with the establishment and running of a Men’s Sheds.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Through our Shed Information and Support phone Line provide a full range of information, advice and direction to support to our member sheds.
- Provide the required support and assistance to established sheds in terms of operational and sustainability matters including information on all grants and funding available to Sheds.
- Maintain and circulate an going grant and funding schedule.
- Give presentations to communities considering the establishment of a Men’s Shed.
- Liaise with all internal staff and supports to coordinate appropriate responses to the information needs of individual sheds or sheds at local, regional or national level.
- Provide information and signposting regarding additional external supports and interventions available from other appropriate agencies.
- Liaise with and support external organisations, stakeholders, agencies and companies regarding their pre retirement supports for male employees providing presentations and information on the Men’s Shed offering .
- Provide updated information and training to sheds at shed county network meetings or other forums including webinars.
- Update all appropriate information leaflets and platforms.
- Attend trade fairs and other appropriate fora with information stand.
- Provide training on updated information and supports for sheds to staff and volunteers.
- Leading out in the development of innovative processes and practices for the provision of quality information services to sheds across various formats and platforms.
- Maintain our data base of all sheds registered with the Irish Men’s Sheds Associations to include annual reviews.
- Maintain a detailed record of all information and supports provided to sheds on our CRM system in compliance with IMSA policies including Data Protection Policy.
- Provide reports from our CRM system to management, the board and funders regarding key developments and evolving trends in respect of Men’s Sheds in Ireland.
- Work with CRM system design technicians to update and modify the platform to collect data in line with the evolving needs of sheds.
- Completing all administrative tasks relating to the role of the Information Officer.
- Any other duties as may be required from time to time in connection with this position.
- Participate in research projects as directed.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- At least 2 years’ experience in an information provision or customer support role or similar.
- Be the holder of a full drivers licenses.
- Demonstrate excellent listening skills.
- Demonstrate excellent oral communications skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience working in a busy office environment and adhering to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Be a committed, flexible team player and have experience working as part of a team.
- Excellent computer skills (including Excel and Word).
- Committed to providing an excellent service.
- A deep passion, connection and understanding of the work of IMSA.
- Strong passion and commitment to IMSA’s values.
DESIREABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Conflict Management training.
- Experience of working with Sales Force CRM System.
- Knowledge of Vulnerable Adults and Elder Abuse national policy.
