  • Sheds for Life Awards

The Sheds for Life Awards, fondly known as the “Sheddies” were held in the River Park Hotel in Enniscorthy yesterday with shedders from all around Wexford taking part. We had a very enjoyable session with talks from Lisa Nangle of the HSE, Ben Hunt from Wexford Sports partnership and Peter McNulty of Age & Opportunity alongside Geraldine, Lorraine, Rebecca, Enda and Ben from IMSA.
Sheds for Life is the IMSA Flagship Health & Wellbeing programme, run over ten weeks. The aim of the programme is to improve the mental and physical health of shedders, and to give men tools which can help improve their wellbeing. Sheds for Life covers key areas that aim to enhance physical, mental and social wellbeing. The ten-weeks kick off with a health check where men are offered a free, private health screening by a qualified nurse. Over the ten weeks men are invited to take part in core modules covering physical activity, healthy cooking and mental health. The sheds are also offered additional choices from a range of ‘Let’s talk About’ workshops which cover topics including men’s cancer, dementia, diabetes, eye & ear health, and teeth & mouth health. Sheds for Life gives participants a chance to take part in discussions and practical workshops in a social and informal way, in the company of other shedders in the familiar and convenient environment of the shed.
A big shout out to all the shedders from Shamrock Men’s Shed, Cushinstown Men’s Shed, Ramsgrange Men’s Shed, Kilanerin Men’s Shed, Ballycanew Men’s Shed, Fern’s Men’s Shed, Kilmuckridge Men’s Shed and huge thanks to all of our partners and sponsors who make the programme possible.
