Michael Lyster 1954-2026

The Irish Men’s Sheds Association is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Michael Lyster, who died on 22nd March 2026.

Michael brought warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness to our National Conference in 2024, where he served as MC with great distinction. His ability to connect with people, to bring energy to a room, and to honour every voice reflected the very spirit of community that underpins the Men’s Shed movement.

Born on 11th April 1954, Michael’s contribution to Irish broadcasting and public life was immense, but it was his generosity of time and presence that left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to work with him.

On behalf of our members, volunteers, and staff across Ireland, we extend our sincere condolences to Michael’s family, friends, and colleagues in RTÉ.
