    What Are We Waiting For

COLM KEEGAN & LBS MEN’S SHED

Waiting for things to change isn’t working anymore.

An exploration of mental health and masculinity, told through the voices of men in a doctor’s waiting room. LBS Men’s Shed is a community group who share a shed, along with all that comes with it!

Together with award-winning writer Colm Keegan, this group are bringing a new play exploring the themes addressed by the Men’s Shed, to the stage of their local community centre. Drawing inspiration from the work of Irish playwright Billy Roche and the haunting surrealism of Pink Floyd’s The Wall… with a little bit of magic thrown in.

Supported by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council & DLR Arts Office.

This recording was made in the Lexicon theatre in Dun Laoghaire, at the beginning there’s a short poem written by the group before the play starts at 2 mins 30seconds in.

“This play is about how we show up for each other in everyday ways,” said Mark Larkin, a core member of the Shed. “We want people to see that through talking and being open, you can find the confidence to just be yourself.”
