The Good Bike Project
In association with The Irish Red Cross and cyclist Paul McQuaid, IMSA is partnering on a project to gather, repair, clean and donate old bikes. Back in 2022, Paul was approached to provide second hand bikes for newly arrived Ukrainians to enable access jobs and school – the demand quickly grew. The Men’s Shed in the Training Unit in Mountjoy Prison stepped in to help and their involvement was so successful we at IMSA decided to extend the project to our entire Shed network.
If your Shed would like to get involved either as a drop off point in your local community for old bicycles or perhaps if you are able to help with repairing – get in contact at the email below. Shed’s are recognised as welcoming, open spaces available to every Man in our communities. Much of the work Shed’s do in terms of supporting Men integrate goes below the radar but is quietly happening across the land. This new partnership demonstrates Sheds contribution in a practical way – nearly 4000 bikes have been donated to date!
