IRISH HEART FOUNDATION
The dedicated national heart and stroke charity is collaborating with IMSA by providing FREE blood pressure checks, and comprehensive lifestyle advice on heart health via their mobile unit to sheds throughout Ireland. The charity also delivered a total of 300 FREE full health checks to sheds throughout 2017.
The national mental health stigma reduction organisation is working in partnership with IMSA to promote the ‘Green Ribbon’ campaign to support a movement to spark a national conversation about mental health in Ireland. The message behind the ‘Green Ribbon’ campaign this May is ‘Let’s Talk’. Green ribbons will be distributed to sheds nationwide to wear during May, by way of encouraging them to get the conversation started.
Siel Bleu Ireland’s goal is to improve the quality of life of older adults, through fun and interactive, tailored exercise programmes. The Europe-wide organisation has developed programmes in partnership with the IMSA, and held a collective exercise event for the 400 attendees at the IMSA’s 2016 Sheds Without Borders conference in Belfast.
The charity dedicated to helping those with diabetes has piloted a Men’s Sheds Type 2 Prevention programme entitled ‘ Be Well, Live Well’ with shedders in county Westmeath.
NATIONAL SCREENING SERVICE
The NSS is working in collaboration with the IMSA to advise and support Men’s Sheds nationwide to engage with the National Bowel Screening and the Diabetic Screening Programme to encourage uptake of these FREE vital screenings. The NSS Screening- Promotion Officers are providing expert advice and support to sheds nationwide.
